About
Indie Solar started in 2014 in a one-car garage in southeast Portland, with a soldering iron, a friend's busted Westfalia, and a stubborn opinion: off-grid solar should be beautiful, durable, and obvious to use.
Eleven years and 600+ rigs later, we still hand-build every system. We sketch loads on graph paper, source the right battery for the job (not the easy one), and label every wire so the next mechanic — or future you — never has to guess.
We also make our own flexible panels, because the off-the-shelf ones never quite fit the shapes our customers' lives took. Custom canopies, awnings, weird marine cutouts. If the sun touches it, we can probably wire it.
We're tiny on purpose. Every project is the owner's project.
